Hello, Autumn!

It is fall now... although some days it still feels like summer! Steven and I are getting all geared up for cooler weather. We have our autumn decorations out and some sweaters. We haven't had to use them yet, but we are hoping to in the next few weeks.

Steven has started a new job as Educational Sales Rep at Howren Music. He loves assisting band directors in the area and traveling daily. It is such a great job for him and he is really enjoying it!!

I am still teaching middle school and they are definitely keeping me busy. The kids are really great and the year is going well so far.

We are looking forward to what the rest of the year will bring. My goal is to update the blog weekly... we will see if that is going to happen! :)

Happy New Year!

Wow. One of my New Year's Resolution needs to be not waiting 6 months to post on this blog! It is now January, 2010 and Steven and I are back in school. We are both getting ready for the District Musical Performance Assessment, formerly known as "contest." We are both taking our 8th grade bands for ratings and hoping that everything will go ok!

Christmas was wonderful with both of our families. It was a nice, quiet celebration of Christ's birth at home together then at my parent's house for a family Christmas.

We haven't added to our family lately with any pets. We still have our fat, lazy cat, Felix -- our adorable baby, Buddy -- and the cute, lovable beagle, Gracie. They keep us running around and cleaning up after them. They make our life complete.

That is all for now. I promise that I will write sooner this time. Happy New Year and God Bless! :)

Happy Summer!!

We are well into summer now... it's the beginning of July. Steven and I are thoroughly enjoying our summer of swimming, tanning, reading, cooking, and doing minor touch-ups on the house. Steven has been doing a lot with his art and also a new interest -- long boarding (which is like skateboarding but... longer.) It is interesting to watch him long board and sometimes I get nervous that he will crash. But he is doing an excellent job!

I have really enjoying cooking this summer. I have been trying about three new recipes a week with about 2/3 of them turning out terrific. If anyone is interested in my new-found meals, just let me know!

A few weeks ago, we went to one of our favorite cities for a week ~ Charleston! We had such a blast with my family, aunt and uncle and cousins. It was a wonderful time to catch up and spend some quality time, which we haven't done in a very long time. It was a trip that was long overdue.

I have also been spending a good amount of time at my school lately. I have been trying to get re-organized for the Fall when I will officially become Director of Bands!! I am so excited and can't wait for the challenge.

Another tidbit is that Gracie, our adorable, hyperactive beagle graduated from Puppy School. We never thought that she would actually pass but somehow she pulled together and fooled someone. She is so sweet and adorable and definitely has a lot of energy! Both Steven and I love being a puppy parent!

Well that is all for now! I will write more as it comes. HAPPY SUMMMER!!! :)

Long-awaited update!

Well it has been about nine months since we have posted. This school year has been a whirlwind and a wild ride. Right now Steven and I are on spring break so we have a little time to catch up with all of the things we have been needing to do like updates on the house and yard and updating the blog! So what has happened in the last nine months? Well we adopted a puppy. An adorable little beagle that we named Gracie. She is so cute and definitely full of energy! We are slowly learning how to become puppy parents. It is definitely an adventure!

Steven and I are finishing up the school year with all of the regular band director activities like All-County Band, All-State Band, year end concerts, and planning for band camps for next year. We will both be ready for summer to come!!

Well that is all for now. We promise we will update sooner next time. :)

Goodbye Summer!

Steven and I have had so much fun this summer. From going to Disney World to fixing up the house, we have been super busy! Our latest adventure was going to Cleveland, Ohio for my cousin's wedding. What a fantastic trip! It was bittersweet going back to Grandpa's house and him not being there, but we managed ok.

Elise's wedding was incredible! She looked like a timeless princess. It was obvious that she and Austin are totally in love. It was great seeing all of our family again, but we definitely need more time visitng with them!

It is sad, but summer is almost over. Next week Steven and I both work band camps, then we start teacher workdays after that. Where did the summer go? It seems like just yesterday we were saying goodbye to the students! Hopefully we will be able to have a little more fun before getting sucked into the busy school year. It has surely been a great summer!

Vacation

Steven and I are so excited! We are leaving for Orlando, Florida tomorrow for Jaclyn's wedding on Saturday. While we are there we will go to Disney World and Epcot Center. Steven has never been to Florida so this is going to be awesome! He's going to be like a 5-year old in a candy store! Haha. After that we are going to go down to West Palm Beach to visit my aunt. It will be so relaxing and enjoyable. We are very ready to get away!

We are temporarily done with the kitchen. Our new appliances arrived yesterday and they didn't fit so Steven and my Dad have been working hard to make them fit. After hours of hard work -- they do! So we are done for now. We are very pleased with it and will maybe post pictures of it when we are totally finished! :)

Renovations

Steven and I have decided to renovate our kitchen. After a tiny kitchen fire left a hole in one of the walls, we either had to touch up the paint or redo the entire thing. So... yesterday we painted, with the help of Brian, from the sponged yellow to a beautiful light green. It looks great so far! Today we began tiling the backsplash behind the stove and sink and then a border along the countertops. It should look great when it's done, but it takes a lot of work! Steven has done a wonderful job doing all of the handywork. We are excited because this is the first big project we have done in our new house. I can't wait until it's finished!! :)
